Mehso-so

This is a tough one. Turns out, Tohru‘s Mom (Kyoko) & Dad (Katsuya) had an unnerving age gap. Kyoko was in her final year of middle school (Japanese equivalent to 9th grade in the US) and he was a teacher-in-training… So that‘s what? At best, 16 and 21? My mother-in-law had a similar age gap w/ 1st husband, but…The rest of the volume was kinda “meh” for me. Things will pick up soon, I‘m sure, since I‘m only 4 volumes shy of finishing the series.

Booknerd222 It‘s definitely one of my fav manga series! I forgot about that little detail. 3y
AshleyHoss820 @Booknerd222 Yeah, it‘s uncomfy… They clearly loved each other very much, and it was a happy marriage but boy howdy is that concerning… it also feels unnecessary. Surely they could have been closer in age? I love the manga, so I‘m glad it‘s a subplot. If Kyo was in his 20s and Tohru was 16/17, I‘d be out… 3y
