Hesiod's Theogony
Hesiod's Theogony | Hesiod
1 post | 9 read | 3 to read
Hesiod's straightforward account of family conflict among the gods is the best and earliest evidence of what the ancient Greeks believed about the beginning of the world. Includes Hesiod's "Works and Days", lines 1-201, and material from the Library of Apollodorus.

Mehso-so

I wanted to read a primary source on Ancient Greek mythology, to get an understanding of how the Greek gods came into being. Theogony was much shorter than I expected (32 pages). Although it does tell of how Zeus overcame the Titans, there wasnt much detail. And a lot of the detail seems to be a genealogy of lesser deities.
