Written in the form of a letter from the protagonist, Alexis, to Monique, his wife, this novel reflects on the incompatibility of art and bourgeois life as the hero explains why he must leave the marriage to serve the demands of art and pleasure

Correct book is not in the system and manual book adding is currently disabled. Really mixed feelings about this book! I love the strong character of Alexis and how motivated she was but I really did tested the continuous theory throughout the book that once she lost weight, had plastic surgery, and started wearing makeup etc, should get a man in finally be happy! *Continued in comments...

TheHeartlandBookFairy I originally came across the second book in the series and it sounded interesting. it was a free download and when I discovered there was a book prior to this, also free, I decided I should start at the beginning. although there were definitely parts of this book I really enjoyed, I'm still very torn and I'm hoping the next book is better or I'll bail if there are any more. 6y
GlassAsDiamonds More to the “Manual adding disabled” thing - I keep hitting books not in the database and they aren‘t added even after suggesting them... any idea what‘s going on there? 6y
TheHeartlandBookFairy @GlassAsDiamonds , up until now, any book I've added has actually shown up. Today was the first trouble I've had with it and it says temporarily disabled but, who knows? 6y
GlassAsDiamonds Yeah, I‘d had easy adds until quite recently ... ah well 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 it gets sorted out quickly! 6y

Mehso-so

Every silence is composed of nothing but unspoken words. Perhaps that is why I became a musician. Someone had to express this silence, make it render up all the sadness it contained, make it sing as it were.

ptkpepe98 I'm not sure I agree. Sometimes, silence can be comfortable. Just being together, and not having to fill the silence is a rarity, and one I cherish. 8y
