Puckoon (UK)
Puckoon (UK) | Spike Milligan

Puckoon, Spike Milligan's first novel bursts at the seams with superb comic characters involved in unbelievably likely troubles on the Irish border. It's 1924 and the Boundary Commission is deciding on the new line between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic. With much pushing and shoving, the border finds it's way down the middle of Puckoon, dividing house from outhouse, man from wife, and pub chairs from bars.

“Life is a long agonised illness only curable by death” #bowiebookclub Ok book but the only book I‘ve ever read that breaks the 4th wall.

So the #BowieBookClub March pick has been announced: Puckoon by Spike Milligan published in 1963. Seems like a lighter, fun read. And it‘s available on BookDep! Whee! http://bit.ly/puckoon

LittleWonder Picked up my copy from BookDep two days ago. #bowiebookclub 6y
ValerieAndBooks I just now ordered from Book Depository! Glad you mentioned they had it. Amazon didn‘t have it new, only used and for a lot of money 💰! 6y

Life wasn't too bad. The trouble with Man was, even while he was having a good time, he didn't appreciate it. Why, thought Milligan, this very moment might be the happiest in me life. The very thought of it made him miserable.
