This 1st novel was actually a collection of short stories originally published in magazines with little to no linking material. I found the 1st one with O'Mara as the MC a little heavy going but the rest kept me reading to see what the answers to the puzzles were, though I could have done with more exploration of the different species and how their psychology differed as well as their bodies.

Pro: This slim sci-fi novel from the ‘60s is about DOCTORS! IN! SPACE! And has maybe the best cover I‘ve ever seen in my entire life.

Con: The author can imagine an endless variety of aliens as the doctors and patients of the massive Sector General space station, but can‘t imagine female doctors? Or any other women really, except for 1 nurse whose character description amounts to “hotty”.
