Mia and Jake have known each other their whole lives. Theyve endured summer vacations, Sunday brunches, even dentist visits together. Their mothers, who are best friends, are convinced that Mia and Jake would be the perfect couple, even though they cant stand to be in the same room together. After Mias mom turns away yet another cute boy, Mia and Jake decide theyve had enough. Together, they hatch a plan to get their moms off their backs. Permanently. All they have to do is pretend to date and then stage the worst breakup of all timeand then theyll be free. Its the perfect plan - except that it turns out maybe Mia and Jake dont hate each other as much as they once thought...

Loved this. LOVE! Although I could hear my own mother in my head while reading this saying her favorite line "Why won't you just listen to me?! I know what's best for you!"

One of my favorite tropes (fake dating), but I was not feeling it. Maybe it needed more plot development? The sub-plot regarding Jake and how brother seems to be random... As in you didn't know Jake has a brother until we learn of this problem. There should have been mentions of him in childhood stories, but they were all Jake and Mia.

I have mixed feelings about this book, I'm at 40% and I don't know if I want to keep reading.

Update: I gave up.

I have seen some mixed reviews about this book, but I really enjoyed it. Mia and Jake has grown up together but can't stand each other. Their mom's think they will be the perfect couple. So they decide to fake date for two weeks so their Mom's will leave them alone about it. But the more they spend time together the more they realize they don't really hate each other!

I love YA books. But sometimes I read YA books and think I am too old to be reading this book. This is how I felt with Fake It Till You Break It. I think actual young adults would probably really enjoy this book but it just fell a little short for me.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

marleed I feel the same way. I‘ve discovered I like the genre but seldom would ‘not‘ recommend because I might be the wrong audience to opine. I can‘t take off my mom-hat! 5y
sarahs.thoughts.on.books This book, and Virtually Yours (which I panned) have made me wonder if I've outgrown the genre. Then I just finished This Time Will be Different, and I loved that book, so I decided those two books were just bad 5y
