Wow. What a conclusion. This book was THICK but didn‘t feel endlessly long. I thought SJM did a very good job wrapping up such a sprawling series. And man if you think you‘re prepared emotionally you. Are. WRONG. There was one death (sort of) that absolutely destroyed me and I am still not over, long after finishing the book. Don‘t read my comment unless you‘ve also finished.

A nice, quick read. I am one of the rare people who has not seen the adaptation, but I‘ve heard good things about it and the books. I love the concept (and that it‘s written as a diary!!) but I‘m not sure how I feel about Mia. I found her a bit annoying. Either way I still enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next book!

I‘m always scared to read companion books before they were meant to be read and accidentally spoiling something that happens later in the series, so I tend to read them AFTER all the main books in a series, but in this case I think the payoff of reading this is greater the earlier in the series you read it. So read this EARLY!!! BEFORE you get to KoA (I like a certain someone). Was pleasantly surprised by the story quality, a great collection.

Continuing my read through of the series (my Cruel Prince review is a little ways back in my feed) I decided to read this novella. I loved the concept: getting to see the events of the first book through Taryn‘s eyes, getting to see Locke through her eyes, the fact that I was told as a half-story and half apology letter, even the fact that it started with a fairytale. I just found that the actual writing of the story was quite meh :(

When I learned this book was set in the world as The Cruel Prince (I was totally unaware this is true of most of HB‘s books) I absolutely HAD to read it. I also loved the premise, and even if the plot got a bit muddled occasionally, I still really enjoyed it. And then when I reread TCP and caught all the references back to this story—so fun!!

Read this because the art style was SO CUTE 😍. The story was also very cute, and as this was a graphic novel, a very short read. I finished it in one sitting. While I‘ve always loved going to camp, I was still able to empathize with Vera‘s struggles throughout the story and rooted for her to make good decisions in the end.

A good, quick read. Not especially memorable, but a fun read to wrap up the rest of the series if you enjoyed the main 3 books. You get to see June and Day before the events of Legend, June dealing with being accelerated through school as a Prodigy, and Day...well...not.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone can help me out. I‘m looking for some YA books to recommend to my brother this summer, but am struggling to find ones written by/targeted for boys or even honestly featuring male MCs. This is not to say that he couldn‘t enjoy a “girl book,” I‘m just looking for something he could maybe relate to a bit more than the stuff I usually read. Any good recommendations?

Omg I LOVED this book. I got it in my Owlcrate and was kind of interested by the description but not totally wowed. And the content warning didn‘t exactly scream “you‘ll love this!!” But omg, I‘m so glad I got the excuse to read this. The world was fascinating, and different from what I usually read. And I loved Lei and Wren and Lei‘s family and the writing and GAH THE COVER IS BEAUTIFUL TOO! No complaints, can‘t wait for the sequel :D

A nice, quick read. Although it felt a bit rushed bc of how short it was. Still liked it regardless. I picked this up because of an awesome looking post for Vera‘s other book, Be Prepared (Sorry! I totally forget who‘s post it was). I‘ve been trying to broaden my reading horizons this year and read more graphic novels/comics. I‘ve always liked the idea but felt daunted. Any suggestions?

This has been my brother‘s favourite author/series for years. I‘m serious. If you know a young boy (especially, though anyone can enjoy these) and want to get them into reading, hand them this! I‘ve been promising to pick this series up myself for years, and finally got around to it. Great 1st book. I will personally murder someone if something happens to Tug though in the future. Just so we‘re all clear. He‘s the best ❤️🐴

GUYS OKAY THIS SERIES IS THE MASTER OF PLOT TWISTS AND HEARTBREAKS BUT THIS ONE BLEW THE OTHER TWO OUT OF THE WATER AND THAT IS ALL I NEED TO SAY. Except that I though this was a trilogy and the ending was hard to read but there‘s going to be a fourth book so IT‘S ALL OKAY!!

Read this book YEARS ago. Loved it SO much. Then forgot it was a series by the time book 2 came out. Decided to read it again. Loved it again. Great book. Great author. THAT PLOT TWIST. Ugh omg so good.

Initially, I LOVED this book. I love this format, of telling one unified story through a bunch of individual ones. I‘ve read another book with the format (call Violent Ends, I believe?) and this book, 100% was going to get a pick, if not for that last story. It SUCKED. Everything else was AO good, and this one was confusing and anticlimactic and unenjoyable to read and not what you want to leave readers with. But otherwise, FANTASTIC ;)

This book is hard for me to review. On one hand, the writing was great, the story good, the topics it covered important. On the other hand, I had trouble relating to Zuri, and don‘t like P&P. And... honestly? I felt vilified. I know that is part of Zuri‘s character, and that caucasian culture as a whole still has miles to improve, but I didn‘t like being told we‘re all insensitive uncaring culture destroyers. Maybe this just shows my ignorance :(

Ok so I read this to prepare myself for a P&P retelling, and I‘m thinking maybe this just isn‘t the best way to introduce yourself to classic literature? I didn‘t know what to expect, and once I got used to the writing style it still felt like it took over half of the book for a plot to develop. And I hear so many people go on about how great this book is. What did I miss?? Does anyone have any suggestions for getting into classics?

Wow!! This book was very different from what I normally read (not because it‘s bad, just because I find anime/manga/etc culture intimidating!!) but I totally loved it!! I loved the world, the characters, the story, and THAT ENDING OMG 😱😱❤️ Can‘t wait for the sequel. Also I loved the magic system and the MC and ugghhhhh just you know what? Just read it yourself. It‘s great. I promise :D

Great book, great sequel, great plot, great plot twists. Just... not the most memorable book I‘ve ever read? Idk I read it a few months ago and forgot to review it, and barely remember what actually happened. But I‘m still going to read the new short stories being published in Roth‘s new anthology so it was still good!!

There were lots of things I loved about this book, like how you start the book with one culture‘s PoV and then switch to the other culture‘s PoV. It was an awesome way to show how perspective plays such a role in how we define good and evil. I also liked the characters and the world and idea of the current. That said, I feel like the book didn‘t quite maximize on its strengths to its fullest. Regardless, I liked this much more than Divergent :D

About time I read this book, am I right? I loved the writing and story, and I think fiction is a great way to introduce people of all ages to difficult topics like this one. I found some of the experiences in the book a bit hard to relate to, because I live in a pretty well-off and safe city, but honestly I think that just made this book more important to read, because it‘s important to remember that this is what some people‘s lives are like.

I really liked the premise of this book, but was a little disappointed in its execution. I loved the idea of Belle getting LITERALLY lost in a book—something I‘ve longed to have happen to myself. However, I felt that Donnelly wrote for too young an audience. This easily could have been a book to appeal to ALL ages, but all I could think while reading was that I felt too old, which a good book should never make you feel, regardless of audience.

Yikes. I had to read this book for school and hated every second of it. This book is set during China‘s cultural revolution, something I had never heard about before, but this author writes as though everyone‘s already knowledgeable about the subject. Also, I didn‘t like ANY of the characters. And the book had no plot. ZERO PLOT. Nil. Nada. Zilch. And the ending sucked too. I kept hoping it would get better, but it never did.

Ok, so I put off reviewing this book for nearly a week. This book‘s score is really low, and very few people seemed to have liked it. But I loved it. I loved the world and the characters and the plot. I was totally drawn in and intrigued and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. This was my first ever Owlcrate that I read and I was not disappointed. I loved it. I‘d tell everyone to read it if I could. But then again, I seem to be in the minority.

I really enjoyed this retelling :) Sometimes it‘s hard to go into a novel you know is going to end sad (and boy did this one pull on the heartstrings at the very end) but I absolutely loved it. And also, the physical cover for this book is absolutely gorgeous. Her purple eyes absolutely GLOW and I‘m sorry but it‘s totally worth it to read this just so you can look at that every day. Great debut.

Omg this book takes like everything good from the first book and explodes it (I mean this in an epic, good way). Philosophy? Boom. Plot? Boom. Thunderhead? Boom. Scythedom? Boom. It all gets bigger and more detailed and better and more corrupt and more fascinating and more ominous and this was SUCH A GOOD SEQUEL. Like seriously people. You MUST read this series. I can‘t stress it‘s quality enough. Idk how I‘m supposed to wait for book 3 now.

Does anyone ever find that writing reviews for your favourite books is the hardest? How can you be expected to sum up every reason that you love them in 450 characters or less? I‘ve been putting off writing this review for DAYS because I just can‘t do it justice. It is SO good. It makes you think about things like what would happen if we achieved everything we wanted, or what does it mean to be human, but it ALSO has a fantastic plot. PLS READ IT.

Haha funny story: I preordered King of Scars MONTHS ago because I was so hyped for this book. So the 29th comes, expected delivery: Jan 31st. But then winter decided to show up. So then, Feb 1, right? No, because then they LOADED IT ON THE WRONG TRUCK. Try Feb 4th, no, scratch that, 5th. Then after all that I open the package and the book is smashed, so then I had to go to my local story anyway to exchange it. I waited a full week for 0 reason 😂

Whoa. I LOVE where this second instalment took this story. Like, in every way possible. In this book, we get to dive deeper into Alosa‘s siren heritage, her family life, and her relations with her crew. We also get an epic treasure hunt and sea battles and awesomeness of epic proportions. Fantastic conclusion to the duology.

Omg the beauty of this cover!! I love the inky lashes and tears and the dramatic yet heartfelt emotion behind them. And that‘s exactly what this book has in store for you. It is heart wrenching and emotional and delves deep into each of the main characters. Tahereh‘s lyrical writing style really shines in these short stories, especially in Warner‘s and in JULIETTE‘S ACTUAL JOURNAL that we get to see all put together in one place for once.

Okay so I hated the first half of this book. I never like it when a book has to undo the happily ever after from the previous book to continue the plot, even when I know it is necessary. Once that was over with though I really liked the direction this story took. I also like the new direction Juliette‘s powers are starting to take. Also, THAT ENDING WAS INSANE OMG WHAT!?!?!!?!? Like, I‘d tell people to read this book purely for the ending.

Good conclusion to the series. There were lots of loose ends though, so I‘m glad that there is going to be an extension trilogy. A very dystopian and VERY dramatic novel; like I‘m pretty sure it‘s compared to a soap opera by one of the characters and I couldn‘t agree more, but still fun to read.

Wow, can someone say “the plot thickens?” Cause like, it did. A lot. At first I found Juliette really annoying, and like all the progress she had made in the first book had just been undone, but then **stuff happened** and I was floored. Like everything just got so much more intense and layered. And like—THAT ENDING. Phenomenal sequel.

I really liked the premise for this book. I love how Mafi uses strikethroughs to symbolize Juliette‘s mental instability, and the impact that her power has had on her life. That said, I wasn‘t wowed, and found parts of the plot needed more explanation, like when Warner takes Juliette away from the prison. Regardless, this series definitely improves with every book, so if you‘re on the fence definitely give the next book a try.

This book was marketed as the female version of Pirates of the Caribbean, and it 100% gave off that vibe. It was a fun and action packed adventure, and I really loved the main character. She wasn‘t a rambling idiot like Jack Sparrow (not that I have a problem with those movies), but was kick-butt and smart and was always in control of the situation.

I absolutely love the world that Amanda Foody creates in Ace of Shades. When I saw that this was marketed as Six of Crows meets Caraval, I knew that I was going to have to read it. I will admit that I didn‘t think Levi was as well written as Kaz, and the diversity felt a little bit forced to me, but the concept of blood and split talents saves the book. Not to mention the history with the Mizers and the Shadow Game and that mysterious guide book?

A beautifully written and lyrically descriptive book. If you like gardening you‘ll LOVE the setting of Wild Beauty (honestly even if you don‘t like gardening you‘ll still like it). The plot is simultaneously one of simple nothings and also a deep underlying mystery, which come together to create a dark and complex narrative that draws you in without you even being aware.

Guys this book is SO FREAKING GOOD OMG. Like Mackenzie Lee (The Gentleman‘s Guide to Vice and Virtue) is CONSTANTLY repping this book, and with good reason. I was floored and amazed and it was just so freaking good omg everyone has to read this and love it please. I acknowledge the beginning can be a bit slow and confusing but THERE IS A REASON FOR THIS AND IT GETS BETTER AND ALL MAKES SENSE JUST GO READ THIS WONDER PLEASE YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!

Holy guacamole, this one was a bit of a chunkster (read: biggest MG I‘ve ever seen). The story just keeps getting darker and darker, and I really liked seeing how the events of the last book continue to impact Harry in this one. Also, um, someone hand me some tissues for the terrible crime committed at the end of this one. I am not okay with what happened 😭

Overall, this was a really nice, light read. I LOVED the setting, because (unlike Clara) I think working in a food truck could potentially be really super cool, and for the most part I liked the plot too. Sometimes I felt like you were just told instead of shown some of characters‘ personalities, but seeing as I was going into this looking for a sweet swoony summer read I got everything I asked for.

Wow. Plot twist. This is getting intense.

Fluff? Fluff with hand written notes? Fluff with love that comes from these notes? Fluff with romcom hilarity that ensues because of the love that sprung from these notes? After some intense reading this was EXACTLY what I needed, and as an introduction to Kasie West not a disappointment. Also, any book with letters immediately becomes a pick for me :)

Favourite book in the series. So good. SO GOOD. I loved every single part. I can‘t even start to list my favourites because there are too many. Just go read it yourself (if you haven‘t already, and then who even are you? Jk I only just read this series for the first time)

This was a cute middle grade novel I found hiding on my shelf and decided to read. It was a short and quick, and kind of felt similar to every other hist. fic. of this time period, but at the same time I think I would‘ve loved it if I read it a few years ago, and it was still okay.
