This was a bit of a rambly book and very short. I didn‘t connect with much of the story. I did find the parts about the teacher strikes and bread lines to be educational. But I am not sure I really understand what this book was even about.

This book is a must read. It‘s a coming of age tale set in the beginning of the AIDS crisis. It will squeeze and break your heart. It‘s a really beautiful book. It got four stars instead of five because there are no quotation marks. Please for the love of god authors please stop doing that. It‘s pretentious and annoying.

I LOVED this book. Alaine is an amazing character. I really enjoyed her personality, her passion, and her determination. The descriptions and the settings were just so amazing and i could see them so clearly in my head. Throw in some mysticism and curses? Yes, please. This was such an excellent read. I also loved finding out from the authors‘ note that it was written by two sisters.

Wow this book was so good! I had a very hard time putting it down. It is described as a suspenseful thriller and while it does have those elements I felt it was more of a character study and a really sad story. It was very well written and you could see the difference in tone from the two different POVs. I do feel like there were still some loose threads at the end but wow this was a wonderful book.

This was a delightful historical romance. Very well written for a debut novel. A couple of plot lines did make me roll my eyes because it did not seem feasible that they would have occurred in Victorian England. I expected more humor based on the cover but it leaned more towards the serious side. I will definitely check out the next book as I love reading about these suffragettes. While I love the enemies to lovers trope this one was a bit muddled. I feel like they never explained the hate until close to the end but there was no foreshadowing to indicate there were further reasons than that they just didn‘t like each other. Emma was annoying and I don‘t get why she liked Cooper. He was a bit of a cad honestly. I want a book about Henry and Nick though. This review from 2015 even though I just finished reread last week: Another installment in the Veronica Mars canon. If we can't get another movie or tv show I will have to content myself with books. I really enjoyed this book and liked how it switched between Veronica and Keith's POV. It felt much more true to the series then the last book. And it had lots of Leo which I loved (no pun intended). (Con‘t below)

ReadingSusan ). I like when Veronica is confronted with moral issues and does something that is in a gray area. I also loved watching her struggle with her feelings of Logan going back to the ship. I think that was very realistic to her character. 3mo
ReadingSusan One of the reasons I love Veronica Mars is because she is such a flawed protagonist. She definitely is selfish and focused on her work. But that is how real people are and sometimes I just enjoy a non perfect protagonist. 3mo
ReadingSusan Back to 2019: interesting to see my thoughts now based on what happened on the tv show. I guess I always realized Veronica was kind of terrible. 3mo
wanderinglynn Yeah, it was easier to understand her terribleness when she was in high school. But I started watching the new season & stopped after the first episode as I‘m not sure her character has grown that much whereas Logan has had an amazing development from spoiled rich kid to military officer. 3mo
ReadingSusan @wanderinglynn yeah she really had no character growth. It was disappointing 3mo

I listened to the Audible drama of this and what a disappointment. I love the actual book but this version was terrible. Poirot‘s accent was horrific! And so were a lot of the actors. Did not work for me.

lele1432 OMG I agree!! I'm so glad I didn't get this version. I love the one narrated by Kenneth Branagh. I think he does a wonderful Poirot accent! His American accents were over-the-top, but I think the end proved the purpose behind them. Sorry this one was a dud! 4mo
the-woman-who-read-everything Audiobook accents are always hit-or-miss with me, and they can really make or break a book. 4mo
Naomis-shelf I really enjoy Dan Stevens as narrator for the audio book. It is always a disappointment when the problem is with the voice and not the story. Although, it is always annoying to come across both in the same book 4mo
