The Boy Who Could See Demons
The Boy Who Could See Demons | Carolyn Jess-Cooke
8 posts | 12 read | 11 to read
I first met my demon the morning that Mum said Dad had gone. 'My name is Alex. I'm ten years old. I like onions on toast and I can balance on the back legs of my chair for fourteen minutes. I can also see demons. My best friend is one. He likes Mozart, table tennis and bread and butter pudding. My mum is sick. Ruen says he can help her. Only Ruen wants me to do something really bad. He wants me to kill someone.'

"Sometimes the imagination is the true predator." So true.

I swear I could hear footsteps upstairs when I was downstairs reading this book by myself. So glad to have finished it so I can stop spooking myself out. If you're looking for a refreshing, thought-provoking, suspenseful page turner, then this is the book for you.

Something tells me I might not want to read this book alone at night.

Starting this right now. Stressed as at the moment and annoyed that I haven't dedicated enough time to reading. Hopefully this will help me get into the reading mindset again so that I can read my stresses away.

As with some of you, it's not much good planning my #novembertbr. I read according to my mood, what catches my fancy 😁. So these are the books I plan to get into, hopefully, but I may also get distracted by other books...book mails, book hauls, library books...😅 May the reading force be with me this month.

'The Boy Who Could See Demons' is a book that will make you think and it's a story that will not leave you. Ten year old Alex is a young boy with a lot on his shoulders which manifests into Ruen, a demon who he sees and talks to, is Ruen real? at times it seems not, at other times he seems very real. This is a story that raises a lot of questions. Highly recommended.
