This is the Finnish national epic. Pieced together from folklore taken from oral storytellers and other sources and organized/added to by the compiler, this work represents the mythology of the Finns and has inspired modern fantasy writers. Broken into 50 parts (kantos), some are extremely fun, interesting, and compelling. Others are much less so. The epic story is therefore fragmented, which may be frustrating. A must for students of world myth.
