Got it on release day but struggled to get into it. Giving it another chance now, after finishing Witch Accused by Krista Walsh. :)

•Ugh…that ending left me reeling in more ways than one. I‘m hella confused about what is going on and wishing that it wouldn‘t be so long (however long that may be) for the next installment to come out. Reading up on stats from the wiki has helped to lessen my confusion, at least a little.
•Rebecca Soler was much improved since the first book…but I still prefer the Graphic Audio editions of this so much more.

I hope it‘s better than Iron Flame.

Another fast paced ride with Violet and her band of crazy dragon riders and friends. Nothing really new is added to the plot, it follows along the storyline of Violet and Xaden and their fight against evil. We get some of Andarna in this one, but not enough IMO. She‘s hilarious and sasses Tairn a lot.I was stressed out for the last half and almost went looking for spoilers. Can‘t wait for the next one! Book #9 in 2025

Started out slow and finished strong for me. I just don‘t know how I feel about waiting so long in between these books; I forget too much!

I can't even think what to say about this. Maybe.... no. There's just nothing. I can't. Read it if you're interested in drama, dragons, war. And love. Make up your own mind. I've got nothing.

Looks like I‘ve been catnapped 🤣 Onyx Storm is in the other side of my living room so I guess I‘ll just read another book for now 🙄

With this series I'm in it for the snarky dragons, war strategy & world building. I enjoyed every minute of it, but I don't think it's anything ground breaking or that the writing is brilliant. It does what it is supposed to. It entertained & kept me interested the whole time. I loved Ridoc's quips & Tairn's attitude. The exploration of the islands reminded me of Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I had fun returning to this world & that's all I wanted.

Please don‘t come at me. If you loved this, I am so glad for you! This DNF is of my own doing. I knew after Iron Flame that this series was headed in a direction that I didn‘t want to go. Nearly halfway through Onyx Storm, I‘m struggling to keep up with characters and places and the purpose of what is happening in the book. And to be honest, I‘m bored and there‘s too many books out there. I got caught up in the hype and it didn‘t work for me…again

I do not understand the ending. I have so many questions. Yarrow, you are too brilliant for your own good.

I liked this book more than the 2nd, though I still wish for a stronger editing hand from Yarros‘ publisher, because the middle got real bogged down again.
However, the ending has left me feeling real strung out and emotional about characters that I didn‘t think I cared that much about, so there is definitely some strength in writing there.
I‘m sure they are going to be 1000 theories about what‘s coming next, so feel free to share them with me!

Onyx Storm was such an addictive, immersive reading experience! I felt like I was actually in the action and I‘m just so invested in the characters. There is plenty of fodder for theorizing while we wait for the fourth book. Strap on your riding leathers and enjoy the exhilarating ride!

As soon as we got this at the library, I brought it home and stayed up all night reading it so I could get it back on the shelves for other patrons.

I'm still enjoying the series. It's fast-paced with the intense battle scenes we've come to expect. I did feel like the people were more the focus and we had less dragon time, and to be honest, I'm really just here for the dragons. 😁

Still a fun fantasy read with her signature cliffhanger ending.

I was sucked in to the dragon world again and it was fun. I am fond of Xaden, Violent doesn‘t really drive me that crazy and I appreciate the other characters. But I have kind of already forgotten what happened and why I was so into it a couple of days later. And I assume there will be a significant wait for the next one.
No idea who the ‘brother‘ is. I thought Dane but upon relistening realised it couldn‘t be.

I know this series has its issues, but the storytelling is excellent. I SCRAMBLED through the last 100 pages, unable to read fast enough to satisfy myself. The action is breakneck, and Violet‘s progression is remarkable in such a comparatively short period of time. Did I see a few twists coming? Sure, but it didn‘t hurt my enjoyment any. For me, a great read and a fab story.

Oh. My. Stars. I can‘t even. This book was stressing me the hell out so much. Yet enjoyed it soooooo much.
The first half of the book was really just hopping along various islands looking for some answers. So much happens there. Then the second half has a different plot going for it. But it flowed decently. Loved how much more open Violet and Xaden are around each other. TAIRN AND ANDARNA MY LOVLEYS!! My hearts 🖤💛 RIDOC 💙
That ending, man.

The book fairy that sits next to me at work let me borrow this. The cover is already warped but I must be nice to it regardless.

After ordering from 3 different places when the first 2 never shipped or updated my order, I finally have this in my hands!! Debating on reading it now… I know it will be a long wait for book 4 and I hate cliffhangers.

My daughter reading Onyx Storm was its own form of spoiler. 🤣 We got her the first 2 books last year, but she had no interest in them until her winter break this year. My husband preordered the 3rd in the series for me (but we didn‘t order it for her b/c she had no interest before). She timed her read of the first 2 with the release of the 3rd. Of course I let her read it first. She read it in one day. It was a joy to watch her read it. 😊❤️📚

Current stack of books! Lord Of The Rings is my slow but steady for the foreseeable future. Onyx Storm is a buddy read & library book so it‘s taking precedence over Head Cases at the moment! The dragons are still very cool!🐉

Excellent addition to the other books in the series. It has a lot going on and the love story of Violet and Xaden. Also much more.
If you enjoy fantasy you should read this series. The ending blew me away. Now the wait begins for the next book.....

My least favourite of the series initially, I found it a slog until the last 100 pages, where SHIT WENT DOWN.

I cried, my soul has died, Rebecca Yarros has ruined my life again.

LOVED it!
I could nitpick (some language gets repetitive, at times there‘s more telling instead of showing) but the romance, the action, everyone growing as characters, the quest was all so good. & It took a moment to poke at the fans & so-called inconsistencies, which was fun for me.

As always Yarros totally nails the ending. I‘m torn between needing more & hoping we take a long enough break that it‘s worth me re-reading & overthinking lmao

Did I stay up until 3:00am just to order the Target special edition of Onyx Storm even though I already had the deluxe edition? Yes. Yes, I did! 🤭💕

Okay, so the main difference for the outside is that the Target edition has a different image on the page edges, has gold letters for the title, and is overall more metallic looking!

I went to the midnight release on Monday night and it was SO MUCH FUN! They had games, trivia, coloring stations, and all kinds of other fun stuff! 🐉 They also gave us all goody bags that had stickers and a dragon pin! 📖
