A fascinating historical adventure set in 17thC Morocco. I enjoyed this book although it is quite violent. Henry VIII has nothing on the Sultan of Morocco! It‘s well written with a good sense of time and place. Some vivid descriptions, too. I liked the main character of Nus Nus. There is a love story but it‘s only part of Nus Nus‘s journey. Well worth the read.

Crazeedi I read a couple by this author and really likes, but the last one I started was just not the same. I'll have to check into this one 2y
VanessaCW @Crazeedi this is the first one I‘ve read by JJ. I do have four of her other books on my TBR pile - The Tenth Gift (my copy is an ARC with the title ‘Crossed Bones - I think I won it in a competition) , The Salt Road, The Sea Gate and The White Hare. 2y
Crazeedi @VanessaCW I liked the Tenth Gift, I think maybe The Salt Road didn't catch me? Not sure... 2y

Took me by surprise. Picked it up in a Tangier bookstore, desperate for something to read and thinking it would be a bodice-ripper but oh well, needed any book! Very well done his-fic. The reign of the infamous Moulay, seen from a eunuch's eyes. Action from Meknès to 17th century London.
