Mehso-so

Long account on Speer, a friend of Hitler's, who was not condemned to death after the war, but spent 20 years in prison in Berlin. After the war he wrote “Inside the 3rd Reich“ and was famous. He was a genius but was like Faust who made a deal with the devil for success. An unloving childhood led to his indifference to people, but he had a great memory and was a good organizer. He was an architect and organized war production with slaves. 😅

Not far into this book yet, but it is very interesting how his loveless childhood led to his being a stand-offish, distant type. I hope to find out how such an intelligent man followed such a horrible man as Hitler. I'm fascinated with the German Nazi era.

Milara At the moment I'm very interested in 20th century history, but I've never come across a biography of Speer. I find him quite interesting, and somehow stands apart from the rest of the nazi command. He doesn't appear as brutish, and I find his mind intriguing. 4y
