This book introduces the work of marine biologist Dr. Greg Skomal, who studies great white sharks. The book covers his dangerous work, his passion for sharks, and the scientific techniques used to study them.
The book is as it says. It follows what feels to be the first of the white shark tagging years. Following Greg Skomol as he partners with the AWSC to start counting sharks. Basic language showcases how scientists take their time, and imaging showcases how much work it takes. The language feels like it‘s aimed at a younger audience. Yet open enough for curious adults. Quite a simple book. It really is a look into the world of shark research. #shark
“Great whites are not at all what people say about them. They‘re not hyper, all curmudgeonly and angry and wanting to kill something. They‘re not like that at all! I‘ve never met one like that.”
The authors provide many facts like these that put the information into perspective and provide the reader with new facts about the Great White.
This nonfiction book is divided up into chapters. Each chapter is full of rich and informative text about the Great White. The authors use illustrations, detailed descriptions, shark maps, real life stories, etc. it is a perfect way to introduce these incredibly fascinating creatures to young children.
There are chapters in this book, but lots of pictures! Also a lot of reading!
-nonfiction
Very informational. This would be a book the younger kids would flip through and look at pictures rather than read all the information. Life like pictures (of course)!
