Earlie King & the Kid in Yellow
Earlie King & the Kid in Yellow | Danny Denton
1 post | 1 read | 3 to read
Ireland is flooded, derelict. It never stops raining. The Kid in Yellow has stolen the babba from the Earlie King. Why? Something to do with the King's daughter, and a talking statue, something godawful. And from every wall the King's Eye watches. And yet the city is full of hearts-defiant-sprayed in yellow, the mark of the Kid. It cannot end well. Can it? Follow the Kid, hear the tale. Roll up! Roll up!

It hasn‘t stopped raining in Ireland for decades. Forget the dystopian hopelessness and brutish violence; this is a heartbreaking love story at its core. Beautifully written.

Bookwomble This seems to be an obvious reference to Chambers's The King in Yellow - improbable coincidence, or is there a link? 😶 6y
Tonton @Bookwomble Thanks、did not know about The King in Yellow, I‘ll have to check it out!Actually my first thought was whether there was a reference to The Yellow Kid、 who was a slum kid character in the very early history of comics: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Yellow_Kid (edited) 6y
Bookwomble @Tonton Following your link, I have a vague memory of having come across the Yellow Kid before, but I'd have never made the connection. The King in Yellow is the title of a short story collection about a play of that name which drives readers and audiences mad due to the cosmic horrors it reveals, being designed to pave the way for the advent of Hastur, the King in Yellow, who will destroy human civilization. It influenced H.P. Lovecraft. 6y
