pickI've always had a strange fascination for "retellings" of the story of Jesus and this one is no exception. In Alderman's tale Jesus (Yehoshuah) appears little and, fittingly, what we learn of him is told by others; his mother, Judas (Iehuda), the High Priest of Jerusalem and Bar-Avo (Barabbas). It's a rich, moving and thoughtful story that tackles faith, love, pride and the sheer transformative power of stories
