Exiles | Melanie Rawn

I became aware of Exiles through The Hot Nuance Book Club podcast as I recover from surgery and broken patella. Two magical philosophies, the Mage Guardians and the Malerris battle for supremacy over the Mage born. What fascinated me about this story is Rawn‘s attempt at creating a matriarchal society, the aspects she chooses to invert and those that remain untouched. It features three sisters who end up at odds with each other.

Yesterday's bookish mail: a brand new pristine copy of one of my favorite fantasy novels. If you can stick with it past the first 50 or so pages, it really gets amazing (there's s lot of world building that requires description in the beginning). It's NaNoWriMo this month, and a chapter from this is my reward for making word count each day.

elkeOriginal I wish she had finished this trilogy! Still one of my favorite fat fantasies 📚💕 8y
bookishkai @elkeo rumor has it that she is currently writing the third book, and that it will be finished and released. 8y
elkeOriginal That would be fantastic! Though I have heard those rumors before - fingers crossed it's true! 8y

Pickpick

By far one of my all-time favorites! It's filled with rich dynamic characters, political intrigue and gender role reversal. Only downside of this Trilogy is the third book is still not out after 16 years.
