This is the best WW2 history book I have ever read, and I have read quite a lot! I was absolutely astounded by everything in this book. The detail, the passion, the narrative. Richard Atkinson has taken the magnifying glass to this sometimes overlooked aspect of the desert war; when American entered the war and learnt her deadly trade. Everything is precise and flows from the pages. I couldnt put it down. Exceptional.
#maybookflowers Hubby is interested in military history, so there are a number of books on the topic of #war in our shelves. I haven't read this trilogy, but the first book won the Pulitzer, and hubby says it's very readable. Just not my thing right now. I have to say that it's great to be married to a reader, since he's sympathetic to my Litsy habit. 😄
Starting this on paper and hoping to finish the e-book version. I'm either going to love this or I'm going to fall asleep easily.
My takeaway on this one: I'm not big on descriptions of military tactics which made up most of the book but I did find it interesting to learn about one of the least discussed campaigns of WW2 and definitely one of the more tragic
A beautiful day reading! Almost done with this one, it's interesting but it can get a bit frustrating reading long non-fiction as it takes me longer to get through and my TBR just seems to get bigger and bigger📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚😬
I would have no problem with this!🇫🇷🍾🍷
My next book, I've been trying to read more non-fiction and more across different genres...
Really well written! This a thorougky researched book that looks at different aspects of the Allied campaign in North Africa. This was a part of the war that I was unfamiliar with and I finished witha huge amount of understanding. Definitely would recommend for anyone fascinated in WWII history.
