My husband couldn‘t wait literally less that 24hrs to give me this birthday present. He was too excited. 😊 He remembered how much I love this webcomic and that I talk about it with clients when challenging value judgements. Now I‘ll have a book on hand as an example! Loved every page, and it had some of my favorites from the authors web posting. 😁

Only started this book a few days ago and I‘m more than halfway done. So glad I had a few days off work to read because I am LOVING this book! I‘d be so stressed out with a need to read if I had to be more busy. I‘m bummed I have to stop now and get kids from school.

I don‘t want to adult! I just wanna read! 😩

My 9yo has decided to read the book! Yay! She‘s one chapter in and loving it!

However, it was not my reading it that convinced her to read it. It was my idea to draw pictures for books that had none that convinced her (she prefers comic type chapter books and she LOVES to draw and has been running out of ideas). She was immediately excited about it!

Stay tuned for some bookish fan art! 😁

LibrarianRyan Cool idea! Just FYI in case you didn't know, there is an illustrated edition of this book and I think they just completed the graphic novel series to match. 1mo
QuoteQueen @LibrarianRyan I knew there was an illustrated version, but had no idea there was a graphic novel series. I‘ll have to look into that! Thanks! 1mo
LibrarianRyan @QuoteQueen yeah. They took a few years off between the last book or two, but I think they finally finished the series. 1mo

I read the book to try to encourage my 9yo to read it too (it‘s her book). I ended up really liking it! I‘m a huge fan of Greek myth and fictional retellings so this was right up my alley. The characters were fun and sarcastic for 12yos which I really appreciate (pretty sure my 9yo and Annabeth have much in common lol). Now I‘m tempted to read more of the series. It‘s was an easy read for me and probably for middle graders as well.

Only a few chapters in and so much of this book is applicable to anyone, with or without a disability. The chapter on communication had a section on flirting tips which was excellent and encouraging. 😊💚

My daughter got this for Easter, tried to read it then got bored maybe? Idk. She loves Greek myths, so I‘m hoping if I read it first and talk it up a bit she might give it an honest shot. We shall see!

My reluctant model is my daughter‘s cat, Flower. 🌸

This book is a continuation of the 6th floor. The death game of SAO takes an unexpected turn with NPCs acting more human than system, quests going awry, and the risk of death intensifies. Through it all, you see Kirito & Asuna‘s bond deepen, with each other and with human-like NPCs. My favorite part was when Kirito refers to his party members as “beloved companions.” Ah the feels!

So at first glance this book seems informative but probably not a pleasure to read...however that is totally not the case. It‘s written with a sense of humor (just read “pun intended” haha), compassion, and a bit of empowerment. Love it so far!

(This is book 3 of my 3 book chapter rotation btw). 😜

This book was really conversational (I love the use of parentheses and side thoughts) and used personal examples of the author to explain Stoic concepts in a way that was also humble. I loved the connections he made to science, biology, & psychology while drawing upon Stoic texts as if he was conversing with an ancient Stoic teacher. Definitely recommend for those new to Stoicism (like me) and even those well versed.

Loved getting to know some of the more minor characters from earlier books. But most of all I loved seeing Bean & Petra‘s relationship evolve. What can I say, I‘m a sucker for a love story. I also really enjoyed Peter‘s parents and their sense of humor!

Book mail #2 of my series order! I don‘t know which one to read next or to just finish the Ender‘s Shadow Series first. 🤔 I have similar conundrums with #Netflix shows too. Currently binging the Vampire Diaries (gonna have to get those books too) but the latest season of Agents of SHEILD was just released and I NEED to know what happens with FitzSimmons. 😫

These are the tough decisions people! 😜

Just finished the introduction to How to Think like a Roman Emperor & all I can say is it touched my soul. I had not felt that “love for philosophy” since my philosophy classes days as a undergrad; those same feelings as falling in love...Difficulty breathing, tightness in chest, warm fuzzy feelings of joy...💚😊

*sigh* can‘t wait to read more!

Diving into this one! This will be the start of my 3 therapy books at once rotation. After a chapter in each I‘ll switch to another cause I‘m just too excited for them all. The other contenders are on sex with disabilities and sensate focus. Let the knowledge absorption begin! (Oh and I chose to start with this one cause I just finished How To Be a Stoic last week & loved it so I wanted more!).

I don‘t know how it is possible but I have stumbled upon a series where each book is better than the last! This one was no exception to that theme! More danger, more relational tension (and not just sexual but political), a more intense mystery, more characters, and more of Irene being her badass self! After finishing I just HAD to know if another book was coming (pictured). Now I cannot wait until January 2020!!! *girly squeals*

This quote from the book pretty much sums it up. Anything that could go wrong, went wrong. Conflict all over the place & Irene (main character) was there to “sort things out.” Somehow coming out on top in the end. It was an intense journey which FINALLY relieved some of that sexual tension, after building it up a ton more. Can‘t wait to read the next one in the series! *whew* I need a minute to de-tense after this one!

(Since I‘m waiting for book 4 I thought I‘d share some of my favorite quotes from book 1-3. Enjoy!)

Leniverse The first book was a kindle deal yesterday, at £.99 so now it is getting cozy in my SFF folder on my Kindle. It... tends to take years between acquiring a book and actually reading it. But I also hate waiting for books in an ongoing series, and prefer to wait until it is finished and then binge. ? 5mo
QuoteQueen @Leniverse I hate waiting for series too. Thankfully right now I‘m just waiting for a delivery. You got a good deal, but be prepared to buy the rest when you start reading. The kindle has sucked me into so many series with their deals. Lol 5mo
Leniverse Yes, but that's fair enough. Like the first book, buy the rest. Don't like the first book, nothing much lost. It's a bigger problem for me that I end up with so many unread books because I'm a magpie when I see a shiny offer. 😆 5mo

So good I finished the book in 3 DAYS! 😱 & now sadly have to wait till Monday to have the next book delivered. Every aspect of the previous book was kicked up a notch, from relationship tension to action to badass bookness & magic. Even so, the plot thickens & the reader is left with even more mystery and suspense at the end of the book.

Monday better get here fast!!!!

How I thought my day would go: haircuts, ice cream, new books

How my day really went: shopping waiting for haircuts, haircuts, ice cream, bookstore #1 no new books, child has accident, go home child changes, see a movie with child, child plays at mall play area, drive across town for dinner, check bookstore #2, one new book & 2 more I‘ll have to order online.

At least they had the 3rd book in a series, the one I really needed!

Time to dig in!

So this book in the DC Icons series was not as great as Wonder Woman: Warbringer. That said, it was still an enjoyable read. It was more feelings and internal conflict rather than action. You really got to see Clark‘s heart. Love that. I also loved that it focuses on minders issues and struggles related to immigration, humanity, equality, & acceptance of both self and others. 💚

I finished this book in under a week. 😳 That almost never happens. It‘s safe to say I was HOOKED & couldn‘t get enough of the characters & unique story line. This one contained creatures who thrive in fiction & stories, a daring rescue, & the avoidance of war. Definitely gripping w/ some sexual tension in the background (can‘t help but love some of that). Now I wish I had book 3. 😢 no such luck, I was ill prepared to finish so soon.

Loved it so much I just HAD to get the 2nd book. I really enjoy the main character, Irene, and her interactions with others, especially her trainee, Kai. It was a mystery set in fantasy, and part of the mystery is also trying to understand wtf is going on. Lol. I didn‘t mind, it made it fun. Though I felt some stuff could have been fleshed out more as I felt something was missing...but maybe that‘s part of the mystery. 🤔

The artwork was lovely with the background coloration matching the mood of the story. The story follows a veteran home from war, abandoned by her government, and struggling. It‘s not until she gains a furry companion does she start to recover, abandoning pills & instead finding peace in community and helping others. The struggle she experiences is all too accurate in what many vets experience returning home with invisible wounds of war.

I bought this book on Tues & finished it Sat. It‘s an easy read with both humor and honest stories of embarrassing & difficult moments in life. This book examines some of the lies women believe and how the author discovered them & got through them. At times some of what she wrote about made me think of #Stoicism & I wondered if maybe she is a congenital #Stoic. I participated enjoyed the honesty & advice in the book.
