Yepp, romance. But not cheesy or too foreseeable. Just to the right extent lovely. Anna/Aureliana‘s change of mind was a bit too much genre-rule driven but I didn‘t care much for that because I so much related to many of her thoughts and behaviour concerning her teenage-years-torture. I really loved how she whipped him about 1 hour before the end. ðŸ˜

I liked that there was no foolishly hidden secret revealed for the climax.

So far no bad book if it makes me do a little bit of Internet research on an empress I had never heard of before:

My new audiobook. After my last rather complicated reads about soul-wandering, machine intelligence and travelling in other people‘s consciousnesses, I decided I deserve something cute and light.

It‘s about a rather confused she finding love in him, who has harassed her during teenage years at school.

I‘m designing a photobook as a present for my significant other. Didn‘t know how time-consuming this is. 🤯

annamatopoetry Everything design takes 10x as long as you think it will. That's just how it works. 4y
Buechersuechtling @annamatopoetry I mean, I assumed it wouldn‘t be done in one day … but that I immerse myself so much into it … I wasn‘t expecting that. Lucky me, I‘m not in a rush. It‘s still 4 weeks until it must be ready, printed and shipped. 😅 4y

A few chapters in and I was struggling and not laughing and I reminded myself why I don't read girl meets boy books and then all of a sudden I got into it, and I laughed a lot and also cried as this is more than a girl meets boy, this book tackles the subject of high school bullying and is really quite deep. It took a while but when I got into it, I loved it and would definitely recommend it.

I love this book--chick lit, arguably, but wry, deeper. The cover is garishly unlike the book. Fav quote: 'He was dressed like Toad of Toad Hall in vintage tweed suits and spoke with an arch, old-fashioned cadence, like a junior Alan Bennett.' #romantsy
