Another book in the series where the reader is left wincing at the graphic descriptions & these killings are particularly nasty. There's another case involving missing young boys but it's kept very much secondary & it left me feeling shortchanged - I would have liked a bit more closure. This is an issue with Carol & Tony's relationship too as it's two steps forward, three steps back. 4🌟

This is book 4 of one of my favourite series, Tony Hill / Carol Jordan. Tony always seems #fragile but Carol is especially #fragile , if not broken, in this one given what happened to her in The Last Temptation (Book 3). If you like psychological read these, The Wire in the Blood is one of my favourite all time books, and Jacko Vance one of my favourite characters. #rocktober

Returning to one of my favourite series (The Tony Hill / Carol Jordan Series by Val McDermid) for #scars. In this book Carol Jordan is carrying the scars, after a traumatic experience whilst undercover in Europe in the previous book in the series. Throughout the series Tony Hill also carries his own scars.
If you like psychological books I do recommend this series.

Cinfhen Uh oh...I saw "mutilation sex murders" written in the synopsis....that's out of my reading comfort zone? 8y
Andrew65 @Cinfhen The books are on the gritty side, but are great reading! If you pardon the phrase the sex isn't in your face, hate it when authors do that. Tried a Deborah Magochi book but soon stopped reading it for that. 8y

[DELETED] 2232195534 Tony Hill aka Robson Green!! Loved that show but not for everyone I don't think. However, guess it was time for Robson to go back in time to Grantchester, right? Enjoy! 8y
LisaJo @kaysreadinglife so, I already ❤️ Litsy so much. But, then someone comes along and mentions Robson Green as Tony Hill and in Grandchester. And my heart just fills with more Litten love. 8y

Another in the long running Tony Hill / Carol Jordan series. McDermid really is one of the best crime writers around and the complexity of the Hill/Jordan relationship adds another dimension. Highly recommended

pageturnersnook I love The Wire in the Blood 9y
