pickWonderfully funny skewering of both the fantasy genre and the publishing industry. Think a blend of Pratchett and Gaiman with a smattering of St Aubyn and Jasper Fforde. Great fun.
pickThis is a fantasy novel for people (like me) who scoff at serious fantasy novels - a hilarious satire on the genre and, in fact, on the entire publishing industry. It's published as a YA novel, but there's nothing YA about it. I loved it. #bookspinbonanza book number 8

Reading this and chuckling on the train this morning. I haven't read a lot of wizard and goblin epics, but I know enough to appreciate this!
I immediately thought of my Other Half as I read this. Him Indoors has an unaccountable dislike of Mexican food and this description is tailor made to appeal to him.
I'm only 20 pages in and I've already laughed out loud 3 times, including at this section. I'm optimistic...
