With up to 6 times as many casualties as the sinking of the Titanic and 8 times the Lusitania, the Wilhelm Gustloff was a German boat transporting mainly civilian refugees from East Prussia when it was hit and sunk by a Soviet sub near the end of WWII. This book tells the story of some of the survivors.
It was very interesting and well-researched, but it really needs better editing. 4.5/10
