I don‘t have Hafiz‘ devotion or faith but the time between us seems not a trice
For #agameoffavorites challenge, I‘m offering Hafiz (or Hafez) 14th century Persian poet. Moving and amazingly funny, he is loved and legendary. Accounts of his life are easily dubious. However, it‘s reported he was influenced by the Quran as well as Rumi, Saadi, Farid ud-Din, and Nizami. He is my favorite poet to read before I go to sleep and on picnics with one of my besties. I‘m not religious or spiritual but I love poetry and a good laugh.
I‘m revisiting Hafiz starting today. As I began reading this, I thought how perfect for this final week of Pride Month — and it‘s Chicago‘s Pride Parade 🏳️🌈 today!
Then I took this picture 🙃 I‘m a month off!
Through poetry I am exploring not only new-to-me poets but also parts of the world I don't know much about.
Thanks #litsypoetry365 for setting me on this path!
Yesterday's poem was from a book not yet in the database. I submitted my request and hope to hear back soon.
Fourth book purchase today to diversify my collection. This one is set up to be read everyday, a poem a day. These poems will take me back to the 1300s and "the most beloved poet of Persians."
