so-soThis book was... not satisfying. Kevin Sand‘s books usually have another level of mystery but this book was too clean cut. It didn‘t have the same creative plot as the others and the ending didn‘t fit with the plot of the series. I liked the way it was written and the characters were very well produced, but otherwise not great! Although it had a nice plot summary since it came out later than the other books, making it nicer/easier to read!
pickTraditionally, this series is known for it's high paced, action packed drama it provides as the book unravels. Our protagonist, however, is introduced almost as a new character due to his sudden loss of memories. As Christopher tries to regain his memories, the “Crow“ plots his scheme. This provides a slow read which is a nice break from all the action.
Just saw that the 4th installment in the Blackthorn Key series is due out this September. This series is a family favorite—and always a read aloud. The teens insist! (It‘s MG but you‘re never too old for a good story!) If you haven‘t met Christopher Rowe, an apothecary‘s apprentice in medieval London, I highly recommend checking out the first book, The Blackthorn Key. The series starts strong and just keeps on getting better!
