Comfort and Joy
Comfort and Joy: A Novel | India Knight
7 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
If Bridget Jones had two ex-husbands, three children, and invited her entire extended family over for Christmas... It's December 23, and Clara Dunphy is running around Oxford Street like a chicken with its head cut off trying to pick up "a few last- minute bits and bobs." Despite the frenzy, the twice-divorced mother of three loves Christmas and always wants to make it perfect. A challenge even in the best of times, but particularly when "family" means an extended network of in-laws, out-laws, ex-stepfathers, and hangers-on, totaling sixteen. Is the madness of Christmas really worth it? Clara is a witty, blackly funny everywoman who will win over anyone who has ever longed to shut out the holidays with "a giant martini . . . and some olives."

Mehso-so

This was nice enough, but not as funny as the first of the Clara trilogy. I'm definitely quite a sensitive creature though as some of the ways the family speak to each other aren't nice!! And, where does their money come from? The family all go to Morocco for the final Christmas and ship out from London a 25ft Christmas tree!!!

To get over The Power, I'm going for this. The first book about Clara (Jabba the) Hutt was okay, so I'm guessing this will be some more of the same light and funny stuff!

celtichik Sounds like I could've used this one when I was decorating and trying to get everyone into the holiday spirit at my house :D 8y
Laru79 Ha ha yes! I think it'll have a warm-feeling-in-the-tummy kind of ending 😁 8y
