Find your voice. Hopeless. Freak. Elephant. Pitiful. These are the words of Skinny, the vicious voice that lives inside fifteen-year-old Ever Davies's head. Skinny tells Ever all the dark thoughts her classmates have about her. Ever knows she weighs over three hundred pounds, knows she'll probably never be loved, and Skinny makes sure she never forgets it. But there is another voice: Ever's singing voice, which is beautiful but has been silenced by Skinny. Partly in the hopes of trying out for the school musical - and partly to try and save her own life - Ever decides to undergo a risky surgery that may help her lose weight and start over. With the support of her best friend, Ever begins the uphill battle toward change. But demons, she finds, are not so easy to shake, not even as she sheds pounds. Because Skinny is still around. And Ever will have to confront that voice before she can truly find her own. Donna Cooner brings warmth, wit, and startling insight to this unforgettable debut.

Despite this book being focused largely on the main character‘s feeling about her weight, there is a universality in feeling not confident in your own skin. Based on the author‘s own internal struggles, reads very real. Biggest complaint: the character names: Ever and Rat (yes, it‘s a nickname, but still). #bookspinbingo and #20in4 up to 5 hrs 49 minutes. @Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks

It is going to be over 100 degrees the next two days, so I am joining my first #20in4 challenge. I am hoping to finish Skinny and read part of White Space. Looking for hours here, and I already read about 1 hour. I am bad at tracking, to be honest, but I‘ll try. Hosted by @Andrew65

In this book the girl has a twin attached to her should and her name is skinny, she keeps saying to ignore the people that are bullying her older twin. If you like books that have drama I would recommend this book. The book jumps right into detail and drama.

MissYaremcio So are they conjoined twins? Your summary left me wanting more! Keep up the great work! 5y

Pickpick

This book was so inspirational and relatable. This book talks about the daily struggle that women and men deal with on the daily; that little voice inside your head feeding you the worst in yourself and keeping you from following your dreams! I would read this book over and over! Strongly recommend. 📖📖📖📖📖
