“people today are still telling the story“
“people today are still telling the story“
I think this is a great story to teach cross cultural perspective in traditional literature.
I study fairytales in one of my other classes and I actually wrote a paper on a the Chinese version of Cinderella Yeh-Shen so I think this was a really cool book. Learning how traditional tales are told throughout cultures and time periods is really amazing considering there was no internet when these stories started so they were so good they just spread by word of mouth.
Reading about all the different cultures made me love this book even more and is definetly something I would love to put in my classroom!
Glass Slipper, Gold Sandal by Paul Fleischman was written in 2007. This book was such much fun to read! I loved all the different cultures represented and little parts of the way that they tell the story of Cinderella. Each culture brought something different to the story and that‘s what made it so much fun to read.
“...that people today are still telling that story.”
I liked the part where she is left at home with all the responsibilities and they switched up the characters that help her! Like a crocodile with a sarong of gold
I liked this book but didn‘t love it! I really liked the pictures and authentic aspects but working prefer the original writing of this classic story
Again, I would use this to compare the story of Cinderella with the original version and the versions from different cultures. Each is different and unique with features of the countries it originates.
This book offers multiple views on the classic story of Cinderella. I love how it jumps around from different countries points of view and tells the story through different cultures.
“...and such a wondrous turn of events that people today are still telling the story.”
I liked how the girl never did any harm and was trying to better her life and had nothing to wear so she got good luck and other characters helped her be beautiful for the night.
This book is a classic tale. I love how it differs a little each time I read it. The illustrations were amazing, it‘s really cool that the illustrations are representing different countries. So all women know they can be Cinderella too.
