Bought this on a whim 15 years ago and felt as though I had stumbled into a psychological funhouse. Everything about this book could be termed “experimental“ - the form, the language, the plot, etc. And yet, I found it truly enjoyable and “readable“ in a way a lot of experimental literature isn't. Reminds me of Slaughterhouse Five in a way, as the fractured narrative seems to reflect a trauma the author suffered in his own life.

Nute Experimental literary formatting is my new happy interest especially when it is discovered unexpectedly - when I haven‘t heard the hype of a book that is doing something strange, weird or different. I applaud the off-the-beaten-track for creativity. I have read some books that I couldn‘t quite follow what the author was trying to do. The experience was WAY too far out there, but, oh, the fun! 4y
The_Penniless_Author @Nute Agreed. I respect writers who are willing to risk everything to create something truly unique and beautiful. Better a noble failure than settling for mediocrity. That's not to say a lot of "experimental" writing isn't just lazy prose masquerading as art, but that's not what's going on with this book. Once you know the author spent six months in prison as a college student and developed aphasia, it all starts to make sense. 4y
