I was honestly expecting to get more into, and therefore get more out of, this book. Expecting to be able to “nerd out” with all the references to Star Wars. That, however, didn‘t happen. I found myself really trying hard to get into the book the entire time. I‘m surprised I didn‘t bail. My lack of prior knowledge of philosophy didn‘t aid me in my quest. I‘d recommend this read only if you have a solid understanding of philosophy going in.

Fear may create and sustain relations of inequality, but the desire to know who and what we are will, in the end, likely triumph.

Unity is achieved when people prove that they can bear responsibility and give up self-interest in order to fulfill the common good.

The truly courageous person not only fears what she should when there‘s reasonable basis for fear, but she can also stand up to fear and confront risk or danger.
