From the creator of the award-winning ITV series Prime Suspect, starring Helen Mirren, comes the fascinating back story of the iconic DCI Jane Tennison. In 1973 Jane Tennison, aged 22, leaves the Metropolitan Police Training Academy to be placed on probationary exercise in Hackney where criminality thrives. We witness her struggle to cope in a male-dominated, chauvinistic environment, learning fast to deal with shocking situations with no help or sympathy from her superiors. Then comes her involvement in her first murder case. 'Classic Lynda, a fabulous read' -- MARTINA COLE

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

Mehso-so

It was ok. Not as good as 'The prime suspect' novels which were rather addictive with their cliffhangers and fast paced style. I found the writing a little clunky and some elements were wrapped up a tad quickly despite the 500 odd pages. Will read the other Tennison titles though, love the character.

The football seems to have completely disrupted my usual televisual schedule so it's back to trying to finish this book. The usual chocolate snack has been replaced with healthy fruit as well. So much change!!

I completely forgot I'd had this signed when I opened it! I muchly enjoyed the Prime Suspect novels (currently watching the t.v. show and.loving it too) and I'm hoping this series has the same fast paced, tension building, page turning style
