This gross, small town horror about a cult worshiping a nameless, timeless monster was SUCH a fast read and while I wasn't a huge fan of the ending, I'd be willing to try another from Keisling.
Definately check out the trigger warnings for this one.

night_shift TW: Child abuse (sexual, physical, mental), incest, rape, murder, body horror, blood, gore, torture, confinement, suicidal thoughts/attempts, alcohol/drug use/abuse, and just a heavy theme of a religious cult and bigotry. There's a scene where the KKK show up to burn down a house. So yeah. Tred with caution. 3y

I read a lot of horror. And this is one of the scariest books i have ever read. There were times I was reading it at night and had to put it down. I mean that as a compliment 😂 surrounding the story of a religious cult in Kentucky, this book is VERY dark and will not be for everyone. The description of the setting, in particular the scenes in the woods, was so vivid and was really what made the story so great. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
