Shine’s life is usually dull: an orphan without magic in a family of powerful mages, she’s left to run the family estate with only an eccentric aunt and telepathic cat for company. The last time I read a Routley novel I couldn‘t drive, so I was thrilled to spot this one- something new! I was in the mood for a good fantasy! Shine, our narrator, is presumed orphaned & though a part of the Imperial family, her standing is uncertain as she has no magic (other than the ability to telepathically communicate with her large cat). This annual Blessings Festival with the whole family brings more intrigue than ever! Fast & fun!!
