This was close to a pick. The MC was fantastic but the overtly political nature of the story was grating by the end. This was not the strongest Hiaasen novel I‘ve read, however, still great to have a another Skink adventure.

With his trademark dry wit oozing off each & every page, Hiaasen has written another satire with political shenanigan/abuses front & center. Throw in a dash of a cult of personality, some two bit hoodlums, some really, really big snakes (I mean really, really big 🐍), a dead octogenarian & you have a wild & entertaining story. It‘s not all fun & games—Hiaasen also has some important things to say about immigration & environmentalism. A good read.
