Love Hurts He promised to kill her. One night four years ago, Leah Carson's husband almost succeeded. Phillip stabbed her twenty-three times before fleeing. The police are sure he's dead. But fear won't let Leah believe it. And Sometimes It starts with little things. Missing keys. A flat tire. Mysterious flowers. All easily explained away if the pattern wasn't so terrifyingly familiar. Leah has a new veterinary practice and a new life with no ties to her nightmare. But Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent Alex Morgan suspects something. And when another woman's body is found, stabbed twenty-three times, Leah knows her past has found her. It Kills As Leah and Alex untangle the horrifying truth, he watches her, ready for the perfect moment. Until death--that was the vow they made. And a killer always keeps his word. . .

Lena's husband is a cop, she left him after he beat her, but on their wedding anniversary he snuck into her home and stabbed her, while saying he loved her. Lena was told he died in a auto crash, but she's not so sure.
I enjoyed it

This wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. Let down romance, let down killer, overall just kinda blah. She's a good writer, but this was in the romace section and by the end of the book it was like they'd barely met. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

RadicalReader @theresidentromantic I wonder if their related to the iconic horror director Tim Burton?! 7y

The book is ok so far, the killer isn't particularly creepy and the guy main character isn't super great. But I have to say the author's so good at actual people. This guy has been estranged from his wife for a year, mostly because of his behavior, and he picks a dress that HE liked for her funeral over something she would've liked. It's something real people would do, rather than what we'd hope they would do, and it's a nice touch.

MelAnn When I read the quote here, I thought the same thing “Something real people would do!” 7y
LegosAndPajamas But would he admit that he liked it more than her, or should that part have been in the narration? I feel like it was enough to say “she looked so pretty in it” and have someone else comment or think that the dead woman didn‘t particularly think so. (edited) 7y
