1. The Life Brief by Bonnie Wan.

2. Life After Doom by Brian McLaren - I was lucky to receive an ARC.

I‘m reading Untangle Your Emotions now by Jennie Allen - also an ARC - and it‘s pretty good! I‘m looking forward to finishing it by February …

Pickpick

I‘ve had this book for sometime, finally read it this weekend … It was exactly what I needed since I‘m getting back into coaching!

It is so complete in covering basics, all of the basics, and pouring into the reader so the reader has confidence and knowledge and a plan to get started! Love the book! So glad I finally read it.

It‘s not actually this book - it‘s the same author‘s book 365 Days of Grief Comfort that‘s not in the Litsy database … but this author doesn‘t have the greatest advice in grief and I think they just regurgitate same content in all their books on grief.

Continued in contents …

MelAnn When I see a title that says 365 Days, I expect to see daily entries … This book is not organized in that way and it‘s suggestion is that you do certain parts over specific months like January - April, May - August and the contents are just repeated in the sections. 12mo
MelAnn And the organization as well as intended benefits of the way it‘s organizes is confusing. There is no road map. When someone is grieving, they are experiencing a tremendous amount of grief fog. They need short, clear and concise strategies, road maps and support. This book just falls short with this. 12mo
MelAnn The table of contents makes it appear that it‘s a much longer, more informative book than it is.

This book is basically a summary of surface work of grief - the same gloss-over suggestions you hear from well-meaning friends. Not that it‘s bad advice, I just found it lacking.
12mo
MelAnn I have experienced significant loss. I facilitate grief healing groups for a non-profit. I coach clients through grief and I am always looking for resources for both clients and the non-profit‘s resource library. But sadly, this one would not make it onto my recommended resource list. 12mo
MelAnn I had high hopes for this book by its title. I was thrilled to be asked to review it. I received a copy of it in exchange for my honest review. But that thrilled expectant feeling quickly faded once I began reading the book. MM 12mo

Mehso-so

This book would be one to gift to high school graduates. The content is not new at all - so someone my age into personal development - there‘s nothing really new here.

However, it took me years and years of trial and error to learn some of it - so having it all in one place in this book does carry tons of value to anyone new to the self help / personally development genre.

I do recommend the book!

Rec‘d ARC in exchange for honest review.

I am an adoptee and a birth mom … this book is powerful and draws you in. The adoptee feelings conveyed are so relatable and authentic for an adoptee. The birth mom is .. well I have nothing nice to say about her. Unbelievable! No one has the right to block an adoptee from their dna history! The second book in this series is also very good!

Ok this is to make my previous post question clearer #biblebuddyread so what‘s the difference between speaking against Jesus vs speaking against the Holy Spirit?

In MT 12:31 I‘m having a struggle with this verse because clearly I‘ve highlighted this in my Olive Tree Bible before but it didn‘t dawn on me until just now … what is the difference between blasphemy against the Son of Man and the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? #biblebuddyread

MelAnn My NET version actually says “For this reason I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.” 2y
suvata Doesn‘t make any sense to me 2y
BookBabe Thank you for bringing this up…I was wondering the same thing! 2y
Butterfinger I have been thinking of this since I first saw your post. I needed to catch up on the reading. It is just a theory. What if it is alluding to the fact that the Holy Ghost is the last chance of Salvation. Son of Man was crucified - the people He wanted to save denied Him. But, He arose, ascended heaven and came back for the Gentiles. If a person blasphemes the Holy Ghost - there is no more chances. 2y
MelAnn @Butterfinger oh that perspective certainly makes sense! 2y

Sermon on the mount … more notes than scripture on these pages - there is just so much to deep dive in these 4 chapters. And yes, I read through 3-4 Bible versions with each daily Bible reading: TPT, MSG, NET, & NLT .. I also will look up some in CEV online as well which is quickly becoming another favorite version. #biblebuddyread

I really connected with Moses desiring to see God‘s presence. It came right after God told Moses that His Presence would go with him. Moses communed with God. He performed miracles. He had an intimate connection to God that no one else had & yet he still wanted to SEE.

For me - to experience the Presence of God daily-so close & intimate, others can see it radiating from within me. Anyone else? #biblebuddyread

#biblebuddyread Today I spent dwelling on the immensity of this journey. I googled what Sinai wilderness looks like - my Sunday school teachers always used the word “desert” instead of wilderness which conjured up a completely different image and I never understood how a mountain where God met Moses for the 10 Commandments was in the middle of drifting sand dunes of my imagined desert. So much came up for me today.

BookBabe I too wondered about the landscape. Wow, was it like this? This looks downright hostile. 😳 I would not want to be wandering in this for 40 years! 2y
MelAnn @BookBabe google Mt Sinai … Sinai desert … Red Sea (that lake bed is rocky - not sand, not easy) 2y
cwarnier I always find it interesting how we teach the OT Bible stories to kids. Many times they are not very Biblically accurate. I am just as guilty at using the curriculum I am given and just go with it. I just think about the the book of Exodus and how most kids stories don't even mention Aaron. Or how Aaron was the one who led the people in making the golden calf. 2y
BookBabe @cwarnier Yup, good point! 2y
