Some days we read. Some days we write.

Today, I work up to that voice in my head that whispered, “Today I write.”

Ok this is to make my previous post question clearer #biblebuddyread so what‘s the difference between speaking against Jesus vs speaking against the Holy Spirit?

In MT 12:31 I‘m having a struggle with this verse because clearly I‘ve highlighted this in my Olive Tree Bible before but it didn‘t dawn on me until just now … what is the difference between blasphemy against the Son of Man and the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? #biblebuddyread

MelAnn My NET version actually says “For this reason I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.” 12mo
suvata Doesn‘t make any sense to me 12mo
BookBabe Thank you for bringing this up…I was wondering the same thing! 12mo
Butterfinger I have been thinking of this since I first saw your post. I needed to catch up on the reading. It is just a theory. What if it is alluding to the fact that the Holy Ghost is the last chance of Salvation. Son of Man was crucified - the people He wanted to save denied Him. But, He arose, ascended heaven and came back for the Gentiles. If a person blasphemes the Holy Ghost - there is no more chances. 12mo
MelAnn @Butterfinger oh that perspective certainly makes sense! 12mo

I really connected with Moses desiring to see God‘s presence. It came right after God told Moses that His Presence would go with him. Moses communed with God. He performed miracles. He had an intimate connection to God that no one else had & yet he still wanted to SEE.

For me - to experience the Presence of God daily-so close & intimate, others can see it radiating from within me. Anyone else? #biblebuddyread

#biblebuddyread Today I spent dwelling on the immensity of this journey. I googled what Sinai wilderness looks like - my Sunday school teachers always used the word “desert” instead of wilderness which conjured up a completely different image and I never understood how a mountain where God met Moses for the 10 Commandments was in the middle of drifting sand dunes of my imagined desert. So much came up for me today.

BookBabe I too wondered about the landscape. Wow, was it like this? This looks downright hostile. 😳 I would not want to be wandering in this for 40 years! 12mo
MelAnn @BookBabe google Mt Sinai … Sinai desert … Red Sea (that lake bed is rocky - not sand, not easy) 12mo
cwarnier I always find it interesting how we teach the OT Bible stories to kids. Many times they are not very Biblically accurate. I am just as guilty at using the curriculum I am given and just go with it. I just think about the the book of Exodus and how most kids stories don't even mention Aaron. Or how Aaron was the one who led the people in making the golden calf. 12mo

It‘s a good day for reading and study. I have questions in #biblebuddyread All of the fabric / linen, fine jewels, 🫒 olive oil, acacia wood, gold… Where did this come from? Ok the jewels were probably what Israelites got from Egyptians before leaving… But are they really wandering in the wilderness 🏜 carrying all of these things? Then I consider the arc and think: They are literally putting God in a box 😂 🤷🏻‍♀️

Release Date: Apr 8, 2022

The Question:

What if we looked at the things we see wrong in the world with empathy, dug below the surface of people‘s disappointing actions to experience their pain, and understood hurtful words as a cry for consolation? What if we responded with sorrow instead of outrage, and love instead of hate?

Continued in comments below

MelAnn The Promise:

If we could do all that, we‘d be living as Jesus taught us in the Beatitudes.
12mo
MelAnn The Expectation (mine after reading the promise, etc):

I chose this book because I love the beatitudes and wanted to see a fresh perspective. A friar wrote this one & I thought this would be an excellent perspective. This book exceeded my expectations.

This book is for: Anyone with a desire to walk a closer walk with God through acts of intentional poverty or gain the perspective and insight from someone who has.
12mo
MelAnn Favorite/Summary Quote:

Entry into the Kingdom isn‘t granted based on the status of one‘s bank account, but by the wholehearted commitment to God‘s love.

What I connected with:

This was a gentle, loving. & comforting read. It‘s eye opening to revisit the beatitudes during the course of a pandemic and an angry world. This was such an easy, flowing read. I felt at ease in a comforting presence of the Holy Spirit as I read through this one.

Each chapter was dedicated to a beatitude & provided real life observation as well as strategy grounded in Scripture to invite in each beatitude attribute.
12mo
MelAnn I absolutely enjoyed and transformed through the reflection questions at the end of each chapter.

The real world observations & the experiences of life as a friar gave this particular read on the beatitudes authenticity & depth that was easy to follow & grasp even though I personally don‘t live from the poverty perspective. The author did an amazing job at making the content both relatable and relevant to today‘s world.
12mo
MelAnn What I Struggled With:

Normally, this is where I insert an aspect of the book that I struggled with but there was nothing about this book that I struggled with except for the challenge it is to my soul with choosing to life a life that embraces the beatitudes vs what I have grown comfortable with in the eyes of the world.
12mo
MelAnn What I learned:

The approach of intentional poverty. .. I‘ve never been challenged to choose to live in a facet of poverty before. He gave the example of in spite of owning his own car, for a year he took public transportation to and from his classes. I don‘t know that I‘m ready to do this, but it‘s given me a lot to consider… be closer to poverty than entitlement.
12mo
MelAnn How I was transformed:

Be extremely mindful of the fact that others have different perspectives than I do from my own experience and how that isn‘t the best thing. That to strive to embrace the beatitudes into my lifestyle … will mean choosing a life less comfortable and contradictory to what the world throws up as being successful or worthy etc. and that Jesus in His time on earth lived an example of every one of these attributes.
12mo
MelAnn I will recommend this book to friends and family and definitely want a hard copy of this book for my personal library! *end 12mo

2. I don‘t read many of them; but I don‘t avoid them either. If I‘m pressed for time I get the audio version and listen to it while traveling or going about my day. I mean, God could‘ve made the whole thing go so much easier and less stressfully. The Promise (Descr from Publisher):

Break through the barriers that prevent you from trusting and experiencing the deep love of Jesus… trade self-protective tendencies for recognition of own need for healing so can be the person you were created to be.

MelAnn The Expectation (mine after reading the promise, etc):

I chose this book because I am focusing on a closer walk with God in 2022 & felt like it would be a great companion for my journey.

MelAnn Quote:

We were made for more. We were not meant to live a mediocre life; rather to live a life of abundance in Jesus, abiding in him at every moment… The world desperately needs people who have been restored by the power of Jesus… it must begin with us.

MelAnn What I connected with:

I connected with every page of this book. Lots of highlighting done via my Kindle! Khym is personal & relatable while also taking a strategic approach to God‘s healing for your life. MelAnn What I struggled with:

I didn‘t find anything that I really struggled with on this one. I was continually thirsty for what was on the next page!

FinIshed the book of Genesis today with the #BibleBuddyRead and I just love the Passion Translation. I can‘t wait until all of the Old Testament is available in this translation! I have everything that‘s available so far. The big aha for me in the reading today is that Joseph was responsible for the Israelites slavery - though it was to save their lives. I never had made that connection before.

quirkyreader MelAnn, so far I am having difficulty with that translation. I know the translator is putting his all into it, still there is something about it I can‘t put my finger on. 13mo
MelAnn @quirkyreader everyone has their own preferences … this one is definitely mine! But not everyone agrees and that‘s certainly ok! 13mo
