Grave Secrets
Grave Secrets | Alice James
3 posts | 3 read | 2 to read
An adventure with zombies. And vampires. And romance. And croquet. Toni Windsor is trying to live a quiet life in the green and pleasant county of Staffordshire. Shed love to finally master the rules of croquet, acquire a decent boyfriend and make some commission as an estate agent... ...but first shes got to deal with zombies rising from their graves, vampires sneaking out of their coffins and a murder to solve. Its all made rather more complicated by the fact that shes the one raising all the zombiesoh, and shes dating one of the vampires. Really, whats a girl meant to do?

This was a silly, fun, quick read for me. The blurb says that this is “Agatha Raisin meets Sookie Stackhouse.” To me the only thing Agatha about it is the setting of of Staffordshire. It felt very Sookie to me, with a tiny pinch of Anita Blake since Toni is a necromancer. She is not a bounty hunter, but an estate agent. I already don‘t like her choice of BF like I didn‘t care for Bill in Sookie, lol. The second one is in my library stack to read.

Bookzombie Note: I haven‘t ever finished the Sookie series, books or show, so I don‘t even know who she ended up with. I always preferred most of the other options to Bill though. 6mo

Mehso-so

This was part of my annual attempt to read vampire and zombie books in the run up to Halloween. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn‘t. Sadly this was a doesn‘t. Nice set up, clever idea and funny opening but just didn‘t work in the execution for me. Never mind. May work for other people.
