Two coyote friends must learn how to survive when human development threatens their homes. Pica and Scruff, two young coyotes, are both born in the heart of a large city. Pica has a loving family and lives on a peaceful golf course. Scruff was orphaned at birth and adopted by a mysterious older coyote named Jagger. Despite their differences, Pica and Scruff meet and become friends. Their friendship is put to the test, however, when Scruff learns that Pica’s family may have been involved in the death of his own family. The fragile peace is further disrupted when construction begins, demolishing the place where Scruff and Jagger live. And then Scruff discovers that there is a lot he doesn’t know about Jagger, the only parent he’s ever known. Scruff must decide whom to trust in order to survive and find a new place to call home.

17/05/21 A question I would have, is more detail about one of the main characters Scruff because his past as in where he used to live and his parents are still somewhat unknown. I would also question more about Jaggers past, because I don't know much about him besides him being a bit aggressive to other packs.

17/05/21 A real world text connection is, I noticed in this book is that every family has problems. Each one is different, and not every parent gets along with their kids friends mom\dad even the other way around, where the kids don't get along with their parents friends kids. The people of the world overall have dislikes and fights whether it has to do with family or neighbors.

Claire started the book straight when the main characters were born so you could read about their life as they get older. I think Claire started the book this way so it could bring more curiosity and the wanting to read more about their life. The book is about coyotes and since we don't know what it is like to be one it makes it more interesting reading about a coyotes POV.

The way the author writes is very descriptive. Throughout the chapters i've been reading the author has continued to use descriptive and creative words which keeps me wanting to read the next chapter. The author is very creative with describing words which is why I continued reading the book because the introduction put me in the charaters place which filled me with new kinds of emotions.

The chapters I recently read introduces a new character named Alyssa who is a biologist and helps to save and rehabilitate injured coyotes. Alyssa taught me how important it is that we don't interact with coyotes because coyotes live all over the city due to lack of homes, so for coyotes to survive they have to fear humans so they don't rely on them for food and shelter, If they relied on humans for food then they would lose the ability to hunt.

Fiction: The story teaches on how coyotes really live and how much human construction ruins their lives. The story teaches it because the construction is what is causing the coyotes in the book troubles on where to live and starts fights with other packs fighting for a new home since there's got destroyed.

Fiction: The main characters of this book are coyotes and the connection with this book and my life is that at my moms house we have coyotes living nearby in the trees so we have a guard dog to keep them away. I understand the connections better now because I get to see the coyotes perspective.

I chose this book because it was given to me as a present last Christmas.
I really enjoyed this book as it contains 2 stories that combine together as the book goes on. This book is about two coyote pups (Pica and Scruff) who face pack challenges which force them to learn to live independently while they try to find the truth about their packs, who killed Scruffs parents, and the mystery behind Jagger.
