1 post | 4 read
People who have never been depressed have no idea what it's like. And people who have know all too well how tough depression can be to live with. Dr. Faith explains the brain science behind depression (complete with Zuul references) and talks you through the different options out there for getting better. Because yes there are things you can do to feel good again (including drugs but avoiding spiraling successions of drug cocktails). If you need solid expert advice from someone who can also make you laugh your ass off, this book's for you!

#BookReport Mar 8-14, 2020 Completed: 4 books. 2 were books I anticipated finishing. The others were spur of the moment choices based on my mood.
I hope to write more detailed reviews for this week‘s reads, particularly for the mental health books, but here‘s a quick rundown. (FYI: star ratings in the graphic are rounded up to match my Goodreads ratings)

It was a relief to finally get through the Rincewind book. I rated it so-so & 2.5 stars. ⬇️

TK-421 The depression book was also a so-so, but I gave it a solid 3 stars because it could be useful to those who don‘t know much about depression. I‘ve read a lot about depression over the last 20+ years so this book wasn‘t that helpful because it didn‘t offer anything new for me.

The anxiety book was better. It had some exercises and coping strategies that I want to try. I gave it a pick & 3.5 stars. ⬇️

TK-421 I‘m kinda glad I went into Artemis with lowered expectations based on the mixed reviews. The story was interesting, the setting was cool & that kept me reading but I didn‘t feel as much of an emotional connection as I did with The Martian. Still, it was entertaining enough to call a pick! 4 stars. 5y
Cinfhen You had a great week!! I‘m glad you enjoyed 5y
