“I‘m the voice where freedom rings. You‘re the love your bright heart brings.”
“I‘m the voice where freedom rings. You‘re the love your bright heart brings.”
This is a great book for children of any age. It uses a rhyming structure which is engaging for young children, but the message is suitable for students of any age. This is a great morning meeting book or a book to spark a discussion on what change students can bring to their community.
This triumphant poem pairs meaningful words with powerful imagery to get across its inspiring message. The poem encourages its readers to fight for good and that a difference can be made in the world. Kindness and empathy are strong themes in this book, showing that with love, you can do anything.
The family I nannied for this summer had this story and it was always a pick for their one year old, the rhythm of the words and vibrant pictures captivate attention
This story walks through story of culture and history through the eyes of a young black child in America
This is a good book to build classroom community. No matter our abilities, we are all the same. And we all get to be the change in the world we want to see.
This is a book that is set up in a poem format. Saying that WE or children are the change the world is about to see. It talks about spreading love and that we are all the same, despite our difference in abilities.

We are the wave starting to spring, for we are the change we sing. We're what the world is becoming, and we know it won't be long.
The moment when all the children get involved in creating change. This moment is so powerful because it shows that with everyone's support change can happen and it is much easier with more hands on deck.
This book is unlike any other in children's literature. This story has an incredible message. The illustrations are incredible and the color choices are settle but bold. The illustrations look like they have been done by paintbrushes and are detailed and can even see the brush marks. The illustrations are large and take up most of the page and they tell a lot about what is going on in the story.
“ Change sings where? There, inside of me because Im the change that I want to see.“
The pictures in this book are really important because they tell a somewhat different story than the words. The words are lyrical and meaningful but they dont tell a story. In this book, the story is told through the pictures. The words dont talk about the characters or what they are saying. the pictures show what is happening in the book with the two main characters and why it matters to them.
This book written by Amanda Gorman and illustrated by Loren Long tells and shows a story about how when people come together they really can make a change in themselves, their community, and even the world.
Poetry. Wonderful poem that discusses change and why we should love and revere change. The rhythm and rhyme that this poem has make flow smoothly and sound beautiful. Fantastic poem that is perfect for anyone at any age.
“for there is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it. If only we're brave enough to be it.”
This beautiful story was written by Amanda Gorman. I have heard this story several times and I really love it. It is an inspiring, poetic story that advocates for change.
Change sings is about a young girl exploring differences that make us all the same. She speaks about how she is able to help others based on her abilities. It talks about coming together to make change happen. It is not something we should be afraid of, but we should greet it with open arms.
A great pick for poetry. It also tells a story about America and the need to come together with love
The illustrator used stroke marks to make the pictures in this story come to live. Throughout the story, this girl brings a bunch of people together to make a stand for what they believe in. The pictures were aligned with the journey of starting a revolution to stand up for what they believe in.
Every time I read this book, I get goosebumps. This book empowers both teachers and students to take a stand for what they believe in and to fight for the freedom and equality of everyone.
“I use my strengths and my smarts, Take a knee to make a stand.“

It was a no brainer for me that my Letter C for #PictureBook #BBRC had to be Gorman‘s picture book. With her amazing turn of phrase, paired with vibrant illustrations, Gorman presents a reflective, hopeful, and inspiring story for children. Everyone has the power to be the change, to help one another…what a great message!
A beautiful Poem about children coming together to help others.

#JumpIntoJanuary Day 26: There was #Honor and dignity in the way Amanda Gorman delivered her Inaugural Poet Youth Laureate address during the Inauguration. While I have been reading mixed responses from (mostly White male) online acquaintances about delivery and content (with the claim that it was cringe-worthy), I personally found it earnest and brilliant. And I cannot wait until this picturebook is published this year. Definitely pre-ordering!
@monkeygirlsmama HERE IT IS!!! Pre-ordering has opened. Both this collection and her children‘s book (tagged) have shot to number 1 since the inauguration.
