I adored ‘Finding Langston‘ and looked up more books by the collaboration between Lesa Cline-Ransome and husband James. I know of the Underground Railroad but not Overground Railroad. This children‘s book tells of a family‘s journey north during the Great Migration. Like many others who were exploited by the sharecropping system, they escaped for a better life in the north. Gorgeous illustrations.

The Overground Railroad 🚞 is a great HF-PR book for students to learn information from! It is similar to the Underground Railroad, but the families board an overground railroad on their way to the north for freedom. It tells a sweet story of a family escaping their ‘picking‘ lives to go to New York to live a great free life. UDL principle 9.2 is used facilitate personal coping skills and strategies #UCFLAE3414SP21

Spearsall continued: ESOL strategy making timelines can be used because of it being HF and informational. A great read for children to learn information with a partner. https://theafricanamericanchildrensbookproject.org Here is a great link to use 4y

DrSpalding I have added this one to my stack. Finding quality historical fiction books that can complement your social studies instruction is very important. Scholastic also has some amazing resources in regards to this topic. Your resource again is excellent. 4y
