My May books all audio except No More Lies and A Reckless Match
This is the first book of Kate Bateman‘s Reckless Rivals series and the first book of hers that I‘ve read. The storyline is a bit ridiculous, but I liked the characters and the banter between the H/h. It is well-written and there are some delightful secondary characters. The set up for the pairings in future books was a little heavy-handed. But, if you are looking for a romance that does not have babies as the epilogue, look no further.
This was my third from this author (and the beginning of a new series), and I enjoyed it more than the previous two. It‘s a Hatfield/McCoy long-standing feud between the Montgomery/Davies families. Maddie and Gryff grew up tormenting the other, but at some point an attraction developed. The story includes smuggling, cave adventures, and two mains who are great to watch as they tumble into love. A great beginning, looking forward to more. 4/5⭐️
A Reckless Match drew me in right from the start because of the feuding characters, Madeline and Gryff. I liked that although there was some animosity between them that there was no serious hatred. Don‘t misunderstand, they held some serious grudges but it was mostly related to childhood hijinks and not nonsensical family bias. They were pretty darn cute with their jabs and verbal sparring and this story was quite entertaining to read.
4.5 ⭐- I enjoyed this new book from Bateman. So far, I haven't read one that I didn't enjoy. Her characters are well developed and I love the banter between the leads. Maddie and Gryff have wonderfully fun chemistry and there was a scene in this book which made it into my highlights! I am sure I will reread it in future when looking for that feeling again. I also loved how she hints towards relationships between supporting characters!
