Tess DeMello was never meant to marry Henry Kraft from Hickory, NC. It is 1944 and suddenly the sleepy town of Hickory is on the map due to the polio epidemic and a hospital being opened there to treat the affected. Tess comes face to face with the fiancée she left behind and finally learns the secret life her husband has been hiding. A fantastic historical fiction book with mystery and romance mixed in. I listened to it on audio and loved it.

Percy & Sam's love story began the summer they met when they were 13 yrs old. Every summer after for years their friendship & love for each other grew until one summer Percy makes a mistake breaking Sam's heart. Fast forward 12 yrs later & the two of them are still feeling each other's absence. This story reminded me of the magic of first love & how some loves never fade but only grow stronger with time. A perfect summer read!

Fantastic thriller. The story begins with the mutilated corpse of a local woman found and her husband missing. So many clues to put together. A rich out of town couple that rented a house from the deceased is of interest as they appear to be possibly involved but nothing is what it appears to be.

The Guest Book follows a young, successful family that appear to have everything in 1935. The unexpected loss of one of their children changes the Milton family forever. The family business ties to the Nazi's come back to haunt the family throughout future generations as does their racism. Family secrets come to light for the future generations after family deaths. The book is long & I restarted it several times; the end had me in tears.

This book follows the lives of three very different women in the late 1800's as Cuba is attempting to free itself from Spanish rule. Grace, a young American writer looking for the next best story hears of Evangelina Cisneros an 18 year old being falsely imprisoned in Havana. Writers from the newspaper with the help of a local courier Marina break Evangelina out. I loved the factual elements used in the book.
