This one is a cross between a pan and so-so for me, I did not love it. Based around some real cases of child abuse during the satanic panic, it just didn‘t do it for me. Just kind of disappointing compared to Bloodline and Unspeakable Things.
Jess Lourey is back!! I really liked Unspeakable Things but was disappointed by Bloodline. I figured I'd give her next book a go & let it be the tiebreaker. I'm glad I did. This book reminded me of Unspeakable Things & was a fast-paced thriller. The subject matter is uncomfortable but done well.
Frankie gets sent to live with her estranged mother in Litani after the passing of her beloved father. She learns of The Game shortly after she arrives⬇️
I loved Unspeakable Things and really enjoyed Bloodline. So far Litani (inspired by the satanic panic and some real cases in Minnesota) is pretty good. Definite tw for child abuse, and while not explicit it‘s the same deep sense of dread I‘ve had while reading previous books by this author.
This is the third book I have read by Jess Lourey and, wow.... she is a master of writing about small towns with dark secrets. A warning that there is some heavy material in here, which could be upsetting or triggering. But I did enjoy the mystery and the protagonist, Frankie. A quick read and page-turner! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Currently reading! Jess Lourey is a new favorite author of mine. I absolutely loved Unspeakable Things and Bloodline. Excited for this!
Finished this one today! I enjoyed it, but FYI it does deal with some heavy topics for anyone with triggers.
