First book of June finished, read half of it in May.

This is Robert Peston‘s debut as a writer, and it is a book full of political intrigue, as Gil tries to find out the story behind his sister‘s death and whether this was an accident or was contrived for political reasons.

Andrew65 It is clear Robert demonstrates his understanding of the role between the media and politicians, and although set in 1997 rings big bells about what is happening in the current political landscape in the U.K. 2y
Andrew65 Overall I felt it was a good story, and had plenty of twists and turns, but especially in the first half I felt it was quite slow to get going. I personally would have felt this would have been better with a faster pace and with more, and pacier, dialogue. However I would still describe it as a good book, especially in the second half where it developed more pace. 2y
Andrew65 If you like books based on political intrigue then I would recommend this book, and am certain as Robert writes more books they will only get better.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Finishing off #20in4 Readathon, by reading the whistleblower.
A nice bit of political intrigue.

In 1997 Gil Peck a journalist is just doing his job and going about his day.
Watching all the latest events and happenings of the election from afar and waiting for the juiciest scandal or scoop.
Then a phone call changes his life when he is told his sister Clare is dead in a hit and run.
At first believing it truly was an accident then he starts to believe that Clare who also dabbled in politics may have got too close to something she shouldn't.

Gil Peck is a journalist and is reporting on and enjoying all the gossip and scandal attendent on the 1997 elections.
But then suddenly in the midst of all this whirlwind and hotbed of potential news his sister Clare dies in a hit and run
Clare also was prominent in the world of politics.
So after the first shock wears off Gil starts to ask himself did Clare know more than she appeared to?
Was this in some way related to her death?
