An easy read that unfortunately missed the mark of being noteworthy in any sense. The plot idea is unique and unlike anything I‘ve encountered before, but it was not properly executed. The whole book I felt like I was holding my breath, waiting to figure out what happened that fateful night of February 2nd, and when it was finally revealed, I felt so majorly disappointed. Lackluster in all aspects. Pick this up if you need something easy

This was not what I expected. I understood this to be a fast paced locked room mystery, and it starts that way, but then takes a lengthy detour into prison story followed by legal thriller and it loses a lot of momentum. The legalese was interesting enough but it slowed down the story as it then shifted into a revenge plot. Ultimately I liked this but I kept having to reset my expectations about what I was reading.

🎧 Listening to this while I enjoy my back porch. In about an hour it will be too hot back here and I'll have to go inside where there's A/C and do my cleaning. 🎧

I was not liking this at first and I considered bailing on it. But I stuck with it and it takes an unexpected turn about a third way in, after that shift, it becomes considerably better. And that epilogue was surely the cherry on top of this okay-ish cake.

This sounds like the beginning of a great story but I found it just mediocre. Some experienced mystery readers may even be a couple of steps ahead of the plot
