This book was interesting reading small tales makes it very hard to get bored.
I‘m definitely rereading more than once The herdsman and the Weaver Girl, the Nodding Tiger, and The beautiful daughter of Liu-Kung, those stories were just SO beautiful that stuck with me.
I would recommend this book to anyone, especially to those interested in other cultures, but anyone would like this book the tales are not only interesting but beautifully written.

Is that which loves in every plight.
The beggar in his sad array
Is moulded of the selfsame clay.

By what he says or by his prayers?
Hidden beneath that wrinkled skin
A fairy may reside within.

The lowly man, the god above;
friendly nod, a welcome smile
For love is ever worth the while."

“Kwang-Jui and his wife were once more reunited, and for many a long year their hearts were so full of gladness and contentment, that the sorrows which they had endured gradually became effaced from their memories. They always thought with the deepest gratitude of the God of the
River, who for eighteen years had kept the unconscious husband alive and had finally restored him to his heart-broken wife.”

“Chen-Li and the little weaver girl spent so much time in the sky, they eventually turned into stars; that is why, when we look up into the night sky, we can still see them both shining there (...) And if you look closely at the Milky Way on the night of the seventh day of the seventh month
you will see these two stars meet as the two lovers are reunited for a few, precious hours, giving
courage and hope to parted lovers throughout the world.” 66
