Black Bird
Black Bird: One Man's Freedom Hides in Another Man's Darkness | James Keene, Hillel Levin
2 posts | 2 read
Featured on Dateline and CNN, Black Bird is the true story of a young man destined for greatness on the football fielduntil a few wrong turns led him to a ten-year prison sentence. He was offered an impossible mission: Coax a confession out of a fellow inmate, a serial killer, and walk free. James Keene grew up outside of Chicago. Although he was the son of a policeman and rubbed shoulders with the city's elite, he ended up on the wrong side of the law and was sentenced to ten years with no chance of parole. Just a few months into his sentence, Keene was approached by the prosecutor who put him behind bars. He had convicted a man named Larry Hall for abducting and killing a fifteen-year-old. Although Hall was suspected of killing nineteen other young women, there was a chance he could still be released on appeal. If Keene could get him to confess to two murders, there would be no doubt about Hall's guilt. In return, Keene would get an unconditional release from prison. But he could also get killed. A story that gained national notoriety, Black Bird is James Keene's powerful tale of peril, violence, and redemption.

Mehso-so

This book was so-so for me. The main guy telling the story was pretty unappealing, and the ending felt insanely rushed. But, it‘s non-fiction, so I guess that‘s how it went down! Honestly the TV show is probably great, as they could most likely make it more exciting than the actual story.
⭐️: 3/5

BookBelle84 I didn't know this was a book but I found the show very well done. 1y

Pickpick

This is a super quick read. Now onto watching the show. Why do I do this to myself? Why do I need to read the book before watch shows based on books? I will probably be disappointed but I cannot help myself. #CarReading #WaitingRoomReading #20in4

jlhammar I haven't read this book, but the Apple TV+ show is so good. I am hooked and am eagerly awaiting the sixth (& final?) episode, out Friday. 2y
