Be careful what you wish for. On the surface, Callie Harwell has it all. Newly married to James, she finally gets the family she has longed for and becomes a mother to his two sons. So why is she arrested for murder? Things are not as Callie hoped they would be and she struggles to be accepted as part of James' family, and to keep hidden the secrets that could destroy her future. As her life spirals out of control, setting in motion a chain of events with devastating consequences, Callie is forced to question how well we ever really know ourselves.

Reagan That looks fantastic! 4y
CoverToCoverGirl We‘d need igloos to camp where I live at this time of the year... I‘m envious, in a good way, enjoy! 4y

At first I didn‘t think I was going to enjoy this book, but the further I got into it the more I enjoyed it, it definitely grows on you. I was rather annoyed with Callie‘s actions at times, but these are as a result of her misreading the situation in a big way. Not advised for new step parents to read this book 😂, step away from the book now! A big twist to the end that I didn‘t see coming, & still not sure I understand the motivation.

My first comment when the audio finished was "what the f*ck!" Ok ... 15 year old child treats you like crap for a year so you take the fall for them so you can "finally be a mom". NO!
Also if you are an author and are going to write about mental illness of ANY kind make sure you do your research and get your information correct. I hated the MC and felt bad for her husband and all the shit he had to deal with her because she tried to protect him.

valeriegeary Whomp whomp. 🙈 8y

The main character is seriously annoying! You know how much f*cking stress would be relieved if you would just f*cking open your damn mouth and tell your husband what a shit his child is? UGH! You aren't helping anything!
Only 2 hours left.

MrBook Yowza! 8y
queerbookreader I can really feel your frustration, maybe you gotta take a lil break from this 😅 8y
mcipher Sounds like a really annoying main character! Sometimes you wish you could reach into the book and slap them, right? 👋 8y
OrangeMooseReads @lemonlime799 I'm so close to finishing it though. I figured out the big thing before it happened, now as to how she got caught. 8y

Soccer tryouts and audio introverting
The main character is still annoying.

Texreader Good luck to mancub!!! I've watched lots of kid soccer. It's the best. 8y
OrangeMooseReads @Texreader he played a couple years ago, but wanted to play tackle (😬) football last fall and the seasons over lap. I like watching soccer a whole lot more than football. 8y
Texreader @OrangeMooseReads I'm so lucky my son didn't play football. That'd be so hard to watch!! Soccer rocks. 8y

OrangeMooseReads @Texreader I was so happy when he said he didn't want to play again. Soccer is fun. 8y
Texreader @OrangeMooseReads My son gave up soccer in first grade and didn't care for baseball after that. His love is taekwondo which he's been doing since he was 3!! At 11 he's been a black belt for almost a year and going up for second degree in the fall. 8y
OrangeMooseReads @Texreader that is awesome! 8y

This one is REALLY starting to piss me off. The lead character, for the sake of her marriage, won't tell her husband what assholes his sons are being to her. Nor will she tell anyone else purely because it might stress her husband. In the meantime she's going batshit crazy. Also bi-polar doesn't progress like say Alzheimer's so asking someone or say to someone that their bi-polar could be progressing doesn't work. Mostly I want to slap the MC.

TheBookAddict Oh jeez, that sounds rough. I hope it gets better. 🤞🏽 8y
OrangeMooseReads @TheBookAddict I keep listening because I want to know how and who's blood she has on her hands. 8y
TheBookAddict @OrangeMooseReads lol, I do that quite often. I keep on reading a bad book because I want to know where that one interesting thing is going. My husband always asks why I torture myself with such books. There have been two books that were extremely terrible, but I finished them and he still jokes about them and says that they're my favorite books. 😔 we just have to know... 8y
OrangeMooseReads @TheBookAddict I wonder why I torture myself, but I HAVE TO KNOW! Lol ugh the life of a book nerd 🤓 8y
TheBookAddict @OrangeMooseReads 😂 yep. Can't wait to find out how you feel about it at the end. (edited) 8y

This story did not go the way I thought it would. I call that a win. You know from the beginning the main character, Callie, has been arrested for murder. You don't know whose murder. The story unfolds from there. Definitely some cringeworthy actions on her part along the way and the story is from her point of view. An easy, interesting, enjoyable read to the very end.
