panThe plot takes place around the mysterious fire of an old manor in Starvel Hollow. Here, Inspector French of Scotland Yard is called to investigate. Too many pages concerning the detective's thoughts, leaving all the other characters on the sidelines. Personally, in a mystery novel, I love to compete with the detective to find the killer before him, but this book didn't leave much chance for the imagination.
